i've worn contacts since I was 16 years old. Acuvue Bifocal Lenses are the best I've ever had. Super comfortable, high water content (which stay moist), a marking to make sure I put them in right-side out. I'm nearsighted, and these correct my far vision to 20/20 consistently. Since I'm not a teenager any more, I have to have something for close vision, and these work well to help me read without reading glasses. I wear these sometimes for 20 hours at a time. The only reason I know they're in is that I can see clearly.

Sadly, Johnson & Johnson is discontinuing these. The company acknowledges they have received many complaint calls. Their Oasys lenses are the "new and improved" model. I found my far vision was not nearly as sharp with Oasys lenses. They have a new system for close vision which just doesn't work as well for me as their original bifocal lenses. They have no markings at all on them for you to confirm that they're not inside-out. They have lower water content and are bigger. Perhaps Oasys lenses work better for some people, but for me, the Acuvue Bifocal Lenses are just about perfect.

When I run out of the Acuvue Bifocal Lenses, I will search out another brand because Oasys just doesn't work for me. I'll make one more plea (which I suspect will fall on deaf ears): Please, Johnson & Johnson, keep making the current Acuvue Bifocals.

I ordered these in an attempt to save money, and now it's going to cost me to replace them. I haven't been this unhappy with a contact lens purchase ever. The first one I opened was chipped on the edge, so I had to throw it out. The second one keeps folding over and it's very difficult to get it on my eye. I'm not a new contact lens wearer, I've been wearing contact lenses since 1980. I will never buy AcuVue again. Ever.

Cons

  • Irritates Eyes

Best Uses

Comments about Acuvue Bifocal Contact Lens, 6 ea:

I used this product in the past (for over 15 years) and loved it. I recently switched back because I like the more immediate focus it provided vs. the newer lenses for presbyopia. However, I am at the stage in my life where I need the lenses with more moisture and I realize I need to switch back to the lenses that offer more moisture. I think this is a great product but if you have dry eyes it may not be for you.

Comments about Acuvue Bifocal Contact Lens, 6 ea:

For these presbyopia eyes, these are as good as it gets. Good vision at distance and great close up vision. The only con, is they are very flimsy and hard to handle at first. I really hate they are being discontinued. I don't know what I will wear when they are gone. I have tried a lot of contacts in the past years before I found these. I have been wearing this brand for 10 plus years. I hope they come out with something as good or better.

As our eyes age, many people begin to lose the ability to view objects that are close to them (like books, menus, maps, etc.). This condition is known as presbyopia and for many years, contact lens wearers still needed to wear glasses along with their contacts when performing up-close tasks. ACUVUE BIFOCAL lenses help correct this problem and spare you the need for reading glasses. Bifocal lenses are especially helpful for those who have jobs or hobbies that require both close and distant viewing (like teachers, musicians, golfers, etc) These contact lenses are disposable lenses that also block UV rays as well as allow for flexible wearing schedules to fit your lifestyle. ACUVUE lenses are all designed with comfort and convenience in mind, and feature their edge design; along with visibility tint and inside-out mark for easy insertion.
